1st computer contact

August 29, 2008 at 5:21 pm (Uncategorized)

I remeber the first time that I came in contact with computers was around when I was in First Grade. I remember we had a computer in the house that my father did some of his work on and we used it to play solitare and pong. In school I remember using the computer playing educational games. There was a word muncher game and I remember playing Oregon and Amazon trail. I also remember using Encarta for many school projects and just to satisfy my own curiousity about nature.

When I moved to Texas in the 5th grade is when I remember really utilizing the computer for more than educational purposes and I remember using it more in my home. This is around the time that we got AOL at our house. AOL was one of the bigger internet service providers, so a lot of people had it. I remember first getting my e-mail account, trying my hand at making my own webpage, talking to friends with the IM feature. I was fascinated by it.

I don’t think that my ideas about have technology have changed in a big way. I think that after class today, it made me realize again what a big part of our lives technology is and the endless possibilites that come with it.

Hey!

My name is Bridget Glismann, I’m a junior as well as an IPC major at BG. I am the oldest of the 3 girls in my family. My sister Maureen is also attending college this year as a freshman at Ohio University; I am nervous and excited for her. Most of my family lives in Nebraska (Dad’s side) or New Jersey (Mom’s side) and that is where I like to spend my time when I am not in school.
